Lag B'Omer at Temple Israel

Saturday, May 1, 2021 19 Iyar 5781

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The clergy will lead a congregational Havdalah with a small bonfire at Temple Israel as we gather to celebrate the end of Shabbat on the 33rd day of the Omer. Lag BaOmer is always on the 18th day of the month of Iyar. So what’s up with the name? The word “Lag” is made of of the Hebrew letters lamed (ל)and gimel (ג), which together have the numerical value of 33.“BaOmer” means “of the Omer.” The Omer is the counting period that begins on the second day of Passover and culminates with the holiday of Shavuot, following day 49. This is our first in-person event, and we need to limit the number of congregants to40. We need everyone to register online. You will also be able to view the Havdalah service via Zoom. This is our first hybrid program with hopes of many more to come.
